Throughout the years, art, like so many other mediums, has served as a valuable tool for expression against social injustices. We are constantly being reminded of the wrongs of our lives; both on an individual, personal level as well as on a world level: we are literally bombarded with it. Sometimes we become so involved in what's wrong that we fail to see what's right. We also lose sight of the necessity for some inner peace, or a place inside ourselves to stop and contemplate. And, sometimes, we overlook the natural beauty of everyday things.
It is this area of our lives that I attempt to touch with my paintings. Whether it be by the particular colors or subjects used in a painting, or the gracefulness of the lines, or the drama of contrast, I try to bring the viewer to a halt; to study, to muse, to give that person a few moments to be in touch with their inner selves. For if we do not know who our inner selves are, we cannot begin to right the wrongs of other people.
